Your guide and driver

My name is Ayold Fanoy and I will be your guide and driver on the Mennonite Heritage Tours. I live in The Netherlands and work for the Mennonite congregation Haarlem as a caretaker of one of three churches of this congregation. With my juridical background I worked for more than 10 years at the Dutch Immigration Service as a legal adviser.

Besides my work as a caretaker I study Theology at the Dutch Mennonite Seminary, based at the VU University Amsterdam. Because of my studies I became very interested in the European Mennonite History. The eagerness to share this interest with as many people as possible resulted in organizing the Mennonite Heritage Tours.

For me a Mennonite Heritage Tour is not just a heritage tour, but also a spiritual journey into the faith and life of our forbears. What was it that they were willing to give up their homesteads or even their lives? What inviolable truth about Jesus did they find in their hearts?
